Mira’s Story

Mira’s a member of Bright Young Dyslexics, Junior National Honor Society, student council and jazz band. She’s also a Junior Ambassador for the Arthritis Foundation.

In October 2016, Mira tore her meniscus in gymnastics. After a seemingly successful surgery to repair it, she started to miss milestones of recovery and was beginning to feel pain in all her joints. Her orthopedic surgeon referred her to Dr. Tuttle, a pediatric rheumatologist. Through blood tests, Mira was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Currently, Mira is on a path to medicated remission and has made a lot of progress since her diagnosis.

She is involved with many organizations, such as Bright Young Dyslexics, Junior National Honor Society, student council and jazz band. She is also a Junior Ambassador for the Arthritis Foundation.

She loves playing instruments and taught herself how to play the flute in a few weeks. She’s also playing soccer again and rejoined her gymnastics and cheer teams. Mira loves advocating for juvenile arthritis and has done many interviews and even commercials bringing awareness to the disease.
