Jack’s Story

Jack has systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). After spending most of his 2-year old life with a fever, this diagnosis allowed him to be placed on a daily medication that has kept him healthy.

In April 2015, Jack McCullum got sick with a severe cold and fever. His fever wouldn’t break, and Jack was seen by multiple doctors who could not figure out what was wrong. Finally, Jack and his family travelled across the state to Seattle Children’s Hospital to consult with a rheumatologist. They left with limited answers and more tests to come.

In February 2016, Jack was finally diagnosed with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). After his diagnosis, Jack was placed on a daily medication that has kept him fever free. Jack and his parents are hopeful that a cure for JIA can be found.
