New Quality Improvement Education Program Available for Rheumatology Fellows
Arthritis Foundation and Pediatric Rheumatology Outcomes Improvement Network Offer critical training to qualified physicians.
ATLANTA (July 15, 2024) — As part of the Arthritis Foundation’s commitment to improving the quality of health care for adults and children with arthritis, we are partnering with the Pediatric Rheumatology Outcomes Improvement Network (PR-COIN) to offer critical quality improvement education and training for physicians currently enrolled in a fellowship program. The newly announced 2024-2025 PR-COIN – Arthritis Foundation Quality Improvement (QI) Education Program for Pediatric Rheumatology Fellows is a year-long training program designed to support up to six pediatric rheumatology trainees in advancing their QI skills.
Physicians in the first or second year of a fellowship program are eligible to apply for the QI Education Program, which offers progressive QI learning, project mentorship and skills application, and mentorship to advance improvement projects and develop participants’ QI knowledge and skills. Ultimately, the goal is to advance the development of thoughtful and inclusive improvement leaders in the next generation of pediatric rheumatologists.
“The Foundation is committed to improving care for the youngest patients with arthritis,” said Steven Taylor, president and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation. “Through our partnership with PR-COIN, we are proud to support education programs that will help create a workforce of pediatric rheumatologists who are better equipped to make impactful interventions that address the needs of their patients.”
Program participants will attend QI training sessions and select a project to apply and refine their QI abilities. Fellows will present their final projects during a PR-COIN Learning Session at the end of the program, with the possibility of projects being submitted as abstracts, poster presentation, conference/learning session presentations, and/or peer-reviewed journal articles.
Interested first- or second-year fellows can learn more and apply by visiting pr-coin.org.
